ISAM Congratulates 2006 z/ELITE Award Winners
(Minneapolis, Minn. - January 24, 2007) - ISAM (Information Systems Asset Management) is congratulating the winners of its 2006 z/ELITE Award for mainframe software optimization. Seven companies achieved “Best in Class” status for successful management of their mainframe software costs when compared to data centers of similar size.
Average annual mainframe software spend for z/ELITE Award winners:
- Up to 1,000 MIPS companies spend $2,670 per MIP
- 1,001 to 5,000 MIPS companies spend $1,625 per MIP
- 5001+ MIPS companies spend $1,725 per MIP.
“Best in Class” company annual savings when compared to average companies:
- Up to 1,000 MIPS companies save $1.7 million per year
- 1,001 to 5,000 MIPS companies save $6 million per year
- 5,001+ MIPS companies save $12.4 million per year.
During the nomination period, ISAM conducted a free SCORcardSM Assessment for each z/ELITE nominee, which provided mainframe software managers a better understanding of their IBM software and ISV software pricing.
“The SCORcard Assessment was extremely valuable even to those who believed they had not yet reached “Best in Class” status,” noted Alan Bain, director of operations. “All nominees were provided benchmark intelligence to better understand the savings opportunities available to them.”
“The “E.L.I.T.E.” in z/ELITE stands for ‘excellence in leveraging information technologies,’ stated Mike Swanson, president. “We are recognizing those companies that have implemented software asset management best practices and risen to “Best in Class” status. An engraved crystal obelisk will be presented to each of this year's award recipients.”
